Q: Canada immigration?!?
OK, I have trie looking for immigration details to canada, but can't really find what I want. Someone out there must know.....how do I, an american citizen, go about immigrating to canada? What, if any, type of entry visa do I need?(didn't they start making everyone have entry visas??) Is there a specific type of visa to get, so that I can switch things over to immigrant status? What else do I need to do besides that? I've looked at the skilled worker program qualification, and seeing as I'm a nurse you think it would be no big deal.....but all jobs I've found want me to have a SIN number first. Sorry guys if I seem dumb, but I am tired of searching around and not getting what i want. Thanks!!!!! Oh, just t add....should have remembered this the first go-round. I don't have anyone to sponsor me in Canada. I'm depending on my job skills(see above mentioned :) ) I'm also married, though my husband holds citizenship in a foreign country. Don't know if that makes any difference there guys.

A: Hey Nafissa..... I can totally help you out. I am a Canadian, and I found the official Government of Canada's Immigration website for you.... (see link below). A SIN number is a Social Insurance Number, and I'm sure that you have the American version - the Social Security Card. I wish you all the best, and if you have any more questions, just look on the Canadian website (it's the second source I've listed) - it will have all the link to all the provinces and territories (and they in turn to the different health regions that they oversee). Good luck!

Q: How long does it take after the medical exam for a Spouse in Canada immigration application?
How long does it take after the medical exam for a spouse in canada immigration application? I have sponsered my husband for perminant residance and he has done the medical months ago but we haven heard anything back. We are past the online processing times but the call centre has no information. Is this a normal situation? We recieved the AIP Dec 12 and the medical was done mid January.

A: It normally takes about 6 months for the whole process (depending on the country).

Q: Is it true that canada immigration visa officers prefer married applicants than the singles?
Most people I ask about Canadian immigration visa applications say that married applicants are more likely to be approved than single applicants because of the adaptability reasons. I'm single and may reach the pass mark of 67 points for canadian immigration but worried because I do not have relatives in Canada and no husband to add another points in my application. If ever I can prove the 67 points I claim, will my status as single affect the decision of the visa officer to grant an immigration visa?

A: I think its just because MORE married couples apply to immigrate than do single applicants. That is why it seems as if more married couples are approved - A LOT more of them are applying. But as the other answer said, CIC cannot discriminate and must treat all applications on an equal basis. .

Q: How can we verify that Mr. Foster Briant is a true Canada Immigration Lawyer?
Got an email from him requesting me to submit documents for my employment in Canada. How can we locate that this man is truly an official/legal Canada Immigration Lawyer?

A: Each of the Canadian Provinces has a registry of lawyers, who are allowed to practise law in that jurisdiction. Ask him this. WHEN were you admitted to the bar , in Canada ? What Canadian Province are you licenced to practise law in ? What Canadian University law school did you graduate from ? Give me your full mailing address, in Canada, and your office telephone number, including the area code, in Canada. Give me your Citizenship and Immigration Canada registration number, as a certified Immigration Lawyer. If he is legitimate, he will not hesitate to provide the details above. Remember, if he is not physically located in Canada, he is NOT subject to the laws of Canada, so any promises made are not enforceable, by the Government of Canada. Be very care full. EDIT...... I have just done a Google Canada search for this name and got NOTHING at all. He is very probably NOT a Canadian :Lawyer, as there is NO telephone number for this name, anywhere in Canada, PLUS his name has NEVER been mentioned anywhere on the Internet, EXCEPT for YOUR question here on Yahoo Answers. Run away, fast. Jim B. Toronto.

Q: Why Canada's immigration policy is too complicated than European country?
If USA developed by immigrant then why Canadian government has very complicated immigration policy? Canada is vast and huge don't they want to develove it at northern side? and immigration is the only source of skilled people. I enquire about Canada immigration and its seem impossible and process of immigration takes ages.

A: Who told you its complicated. Its pretty straight forward...using the points system. The only problem is the back log....given the number of people applying and the limited number of resources by the Govt of Canada to process them all. The system is currently being studied in Europe as a model for their own immigration policy.

A: It took 2 years for me, allegedly due to a "computer glitch," but I was going for citizenship (which I was entitled to,) not a work VISA or "landed immigrant" status...

Q: Canada immigration - Landing by road - very important and urgent?
Hi everyone, I have got my 16 months old daughter's immigration(on the passport) from Buffalo office. My daughter is in Canada with us as a visitor now. I was told by the CIC representative that she needs to go outside and then come back to Canada for completing her immigration process (i.e. she needs to land to canada). I am planning to get her landing process done by crossing the southern border and then come back to Canada. My question is If I go to the Niagara falls border then do I need to go through the USA immigration then come back to Canadian immigration. If Yes then is there any way I skip the USA immigration and direct go to the Canadian immigration at the border. The problem for going to the USA immigration is that we (my wife and I both) do not have a valid visa to the USA. Also we both are just the permanent resident of Canada not citizens yet. Any suggestion would be highly appreciated for avoiding USA immigration. Thanks and Regards

A: I'm sorry. I don't see a way to completely avoid the U.S. immigration. There are people more knowledgeable than me, though. You could try to contact a lawyer on your own or call the Lawyer Referral Service of the Law Society of Upper Canada at 1-900-565-4577 (open Monday to Friday 9-5). For six dollars flat fee on your phone bill you can discuss this with an immigration lawyer for half an hour. You could also check out www.settlement.org in the immigration section and see if anything is mentioned there. Best of luck.

Q: How can I explain to Immigration Canada why my mother and father aren't applying for immigration together.?
I am sponsoring my mother to Canada from Hong Kong. They are asking why my mother and father aren't applying for immigration together. They are asking for proof of separation or an explanation. But they are not separated/divorced; my father doesn't want to move just yet, but my mother wants to.

A: Just say exactly that, he is not ready to move and when he is you will sponsor him too. Good luck, Canada is great and I hope you and your family will be happy!!

Q: What do I need to send to get a Police Certificate from California for immigration Canada?
I am an American citizen currently living in Canada and applying for Canadian perment residency so I need a police certificate from the state of California. I went to the website (http://ag.ca.gov/fingerprints/index.php) and it said that I need to provide the fingerprint card, fee and the request letter I received from immigration Canada. I called the bureau at the number from the website and it had a recording which said I need to have special forms mailed to me. Can I get the police certificate by just sending the fingerprint card, fee and request letter from immigration Canada or do I need to submit the request using the forms from the California Department of Justice? I can't leave Canada until my residency status is confirmed otherwise I won't be let back into Canada. I need to be able to send my fingerprints there without leaving the county.

A: you might go there in person and get things you need done, unless your wanted in california.

Q: Canada Immigration Form : I fill one wrong .How can I correct my mistake? ?
Canada Immigration Form : I fill one wrong .How can I correct my mistake? I submitted Canada immigration simplified application form last month. But in the experience part , I fill wrong data. My experience was from 1998-2003. But I wrote from 1988-2003. How can I correct my mistake?

A: fill out another form ASAP and send it to the same place you sent the first form, BUT make sure you include your CLIENT number if you have one (if you have a visa, it will be on the top right of the visa paper) Also send a letter explaining why you are sending another form. Mark the outside of the envelope URGENT and send it express post and ask for a signature so you know it got there. There can be NO errors on the form. You cannot rub it out, cross it out, use white out etc. The form must be filled in perfectly. Usually we make lots of copies and practise a few times.

Find out more about a labour market opinion in the Related Links section at the bottom of this page. How to apply There are five steps to apply for a work permit: Obtain an application kit. Read the guide. Complete the application form and attach the necessary documents. Pay the fee and get the necessary receipt. Mail the application form and documents. 1. Obtain an application kit. You can download and print the application kit from Find an application form or guide in the I Need To… section on the right-hand side of this page. The application you need is called IMM 5580 (Applying for a Work Permit Student Guide). 2. Read the guide. Read the guide carefully before you complete the application form. The fee for processing your application is not refundable, so make sure you are eligible for a work permit before you apply. Photocopy the blank forms and use one as a working copy. Keep the working copy for your records. 3. Complete the application form and attach the necessary documents. The application form contains instructions. Read those instructions and be sure to provide the required documents. If information or documents are missing, your application may be delayed. The Document Checklist in the application kit will tell you what documents to include. Answer all questions carefully, completely and truthfully. Answers can be typed or handwritten (print clearly in black ink). Incomplete applications will not be processed, but will be returned to you. This will delay the application process. 4. Pay the fee and get the necessary receipt. You can pay the fee at most banks in Canada. The application processing fee is payable in Canadian funds only. You can also pay online through Pay my application fees in the I Need To… section on the right-hand side of this page. Be sure to print your receipt of payment and include it with your application. Note that some credit cards issued outside North America are not compatible with the online payment system. When you pay the fee at a bank you must obtain the original receipt of payment (IMM 5401) and send it with your application. To get the receipt see Order a fees receipt under the Related Links section at the bottom of the page. 5. Mail the application form and documents.
