Q: How long does it take usually to get Immigration visa for Canada?
-I've heard that getting immigration visa for Canada differs from country to country ....well if so how long would it take from the countries that you know?(without having representative ofcourse),what's the maximum and what's the minimum and what's the avarage years that this process takes time? - During this process can you get student visa or work visa from another countries and move to those countries in meanwhile ? Because I have heard in out country it takes between 4 to 7 years to get it and I don't want to stay here for that long waiting it to come...because I might be able to get a student visa for my post graduate degree (which is a 2 years course) and I want to know if I would be able to trace and not loose my immigration visa if I go toother countries before my immigration comes..... So how long is needed to stay here(in my own country that I'm applying for immigration from)

A: In the absence of your specific country, I will just direct you to the CIC website so you can go see the actual processing time for all countries with immigration applications to Canada. As to your question about studying elsewhere while waiting for the processing of your immigrant visa, I suppose you can do that for as long as you maintain your address in your country so the Canadian Embassy can correspond with you.**

Q: Any conflict of having applied for family immigration visa & will be hired on work visa in Canada?
Our application for family immigration visa to Canada is now under process. I applied for a job in Montreal, Canada and it seems that I would be granted a work visa. Will there be any conflict if they found out that that we also have an immigration application and under process? Please help so we can decide. Thank you so much.

A: inquire directly to immigration..they would give you assistance and what to do next..for your case.. you can call an agent... they would surely found out that you are applying for family immigration visa because of your number and your record.. you must explain to them that you are applying for another visa while waiting because it would take you more time waiting without answer and if you wait for the result,, the time you are wasting now would delayed the process..

Q: Is IELTS now compulsory for both husband and wife if they apply for a family immigration visa for Canada?
earlier it was the Principal applicant who needed to clear IELTS. the other family members were not required to do so. i have heard from somewhere that now both the partners need to clear IELTS. kindly clarify if u know exactly.

A: Yes, IELTS is compulsory for both husband and wife if they apply for a family immigration visa for Canada as Canada's Primary language is English. this rule had come in to force from 2003. and it is compulsory to take the English test. THEIR TEST ARE SOME THING LIKE THIS: All candidates must complete four Modules - Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking - to obtain a Band, which is shown on an IELTS Test Report Form (TRF). All candidates take the same Listening and Speaking Modules, while the Reading and Writing Modules differ depending on whether the candidate is taking the Academic or General Training Versions of the Test. Total Test Duration 2 hours 45 minutes The first three modules - Listening, Reading and Writing (always in that order) - are completed in one day, and in fact are taken with no break in between. The Speaking Module may be taken, at the discretion of the test center, in the period seven days before or after the other Modules. The tests are designed to cover the full range of ability from non-user to expert user. Band Scale IELTS is scored on a nine band scale, with each band corresponding to a specified competence in English. The Band Scores are in either whole or half Bands. The nine bands are described as follows: 9 = Expert User Has fully operational command of the language: appropriate, accurate and fluent with complete understanding. Hardly anyone can get this band score because of extreme difficulty. 8 = Very Good User Has fully operational command of the language with only occasional unsystematic inaccuracies and inappropriacies. Handles complex detailed argumentation well. 7 = Good User Has operational command of the language, though with occasional inaccuracies, inappropriateness and misunderstandings in some situations. Generally handles complex language well and understands detailed reasoning. 6 = Competent User Has generally effective command of the language despite some inaccuracies, inappropriacies and misunderstandings. Can use and understand fairly complex language, particularly in familiar situations. 5 = Modest User Has a partial command of the language, coping with overall meaning in most situations, though is likely to make many mistakes. The candidate should be able to handle basic communication in his or her own field. 4 = Limited User Basic competence is limited to familiar situations. Has frequent problems in using complex language. 3 = Extremely Limited User Conveys and understands only general meaning in very familiar situations. Frequent breakdowns in communication occur. 2 = Intermittent User No real communication is possible except for the most basic information using isolated words or short formulae in familiar situations and to meet immediate needs. Has great difficulty understanding spoken and written English. 1 = Non User Essentially has no ability to use the language beyond possibly a few isolated words. 0 = No Original English Used No assessable information provided. This Band is used where the candidate fails to attend for the test or, more rarely, is unable to provide any English beyond obviously memorised strings. Most IELTS requirements by immigration department (Every English speaking country) are between 5.5 and 7.0. for more info try this site http://www.ielts.org/ http://www.ielts-exams.com/ hope this will solve your problems adios seƱor

Q: Why are the majority of questions in the Canada category about immigration and visa laws?
Are common people that answer questions in Yahoo the immigration department? And how do we know what papers an American needs to come to Canada? Please don't take me the wrong way, but this is why I rarely ask questions in the Canada section , because there just isn't anything interesting here. Don't you think that's why there is an immigration catagory? not ask questions * answer them sorry.

A: To answer your question directly, I'm American living in Canada. If I can help someone that is not sure how the process works, then I will do that. You are correct in the fact that we are not experts but some of us have very different experiences to draw off of, and an American coming to Canada relates directly to my personal knowledge much like my wife going to U.S. who is Canadian.

Q: What is the current wait time for Parents immigration visa to Canada?

Q: Canada : Immigration and visa?
Hi, My spouse and I are Indian citizens. We work as freelancing programmers on the internet. We both are very keen on going to Canada, and explore it, and stay for maybe a couple of years. Could you give us some info/links/references which will help us, with the immigration and visa? Any personal experiences shared will also be helpful. Thank you!

A: This is the Government's website which lists details about immigration and the visas. http://www.cic.gc.ca Different kinds of Canadian Visas explained. http://www.canadavisa.com/ Website listing personal experiences of people who have migrated to Canada. http://www.canadaimmigrants.com/forum.asp

Q: I qualify for skilled worked visa and immigration to Canada, how can I find a job before I actually get there?
My immigration application is in process and I hope to have positive outcome in the next 6 to 12 months, I want to find a job in Canada before I get there...how should I proceed??? please advise?

A: Well, I have to disappoint you. Immigration to Canada is not easy even if you seem to be qualified professional. Canadian job market has its way of protecting the interests of those born and educated in Canada so you should expect lengthy process that, I can assure you, would last more than 12 months if you're lucky to get considered. Some companies that are looking for workers have to prove to Canadian Immigration officials that they are unable to find qualified workers inside Canada to be able to sponsor you. So, don't believe agencies that are out to get your money in form of fees that they are going to get you a job placement right away. On your own, you barely stand a chance to get there. You need an actual and formal sponsorship from the employer and as I mentioned above is quite difficult to achieve. But, of course, try researching various job opportunities in Canada and apply everywhere that you can. Remember, strenght is in numbers in this case.

Q: How long does it take to get a Permanent Resident Visa to canada. Why soo much money for immigration process.
I have gone through the documentation but they are asking for alot of cash from me and my family to immigrate beside taking 24 months to process. Is there any guarantee that after paying all their required fee and having no criminal records plus a skill u will eventually get the Visa once u score more than 69 points on the test. Anyone been through the process and succeed? I need more information before I set myself for Canada and start the process. Since canada has opened its door to skilled workers why do they need one to have a fat bank statement yet u going there to work? Does using an agent increases my chance of legally immigrating there? And yes am from africa very hard working married with 2 children and we want to do this the legal way. Is there any easier way to immigrate to Canada? Man I need all the information there is to this immigration thing coz dont need to start and bail out half way through the process.

A: Well, the process shouldn't cost that much, as long as you don't start paying for lawyers and immigration consultants to help you with the process. Some of those guys charge thousands of dollars to obtain and assist would-be immigrants in completing application forms, and that is a total scam. Unless your English is very poor, or you are too intimidated to attempt the process yourself, you should avoid using middlemen (unless you are very rich, in which case it doesn't matter). The fact is, either you will have enough points or you won't. A middleman won't be able to change that. And don't bother trying to lie on the form - you will be found out. Unless you have a lot of money and plan to start a business in Canada with invested capital, or have relatives in Canada who can sponsor you, you have to qualify as an independent. It is a fairly straightforward process, but be warned that it can take up to two years to be approved. Also, potential new immigrants who are professionals in their home country should be warned about one very important thing. Just because you are a doctor, lawyer or engineer in your home country, don't assume that you will be able to perform the same kind of work in Canada. Immigration Canada gives extra points for a graduate degree, etc., and professional work experience, but, often, candidates are not told that their professional qualifications are not worth anything in Canada. You may have to requalify completely in order to work in your field in Canada, so be warned.

Q: Can a secondary applicant for canadian immigration enter canada first before the principal applicant?
My spouse lives in the US and me in another. Our immigration visas for Canada have already been given. They were processed and approved in Canada's consular office in New York. Can I, as the secondary applicant, enter Canada first? Any restrictions for me going there first? Someone said I can't use my visa yet unless my spouse landed in Canada first. True?

A: Yes, unfortunately its truth.

Q: Canada Immigration?
Hi, Suppose I'm qualified for canada work visa (skilled worker), should I use a consulting firm, or can I just check my points for qualification and apply on my own? Sorry if I sound dumb, but is it that easy to go through the canada visa process? I once tried to get US visa which procedure was so complicated, and it seems almost everyone w/ bachelor's degree can move in and work in canada.... Is it true?? Thanks,

A: To get a working visa in Canada you need to have a company sponser you. It's not easy! The company has to prove that there are no Canadians qualified to do the job before they can sponser someone from outside Canada. It's alot of paperwork for the company but not for you.
