Q: Where do I find an immigration lawyer for immigration to Canada?
I'm from the US and this might be a dumb question but I was wondering where do you look for an immigration lawyer for immigration to Canada? When people say they hire an immigration lawyer or talk to one for cosulation, do they look in their country of residence for one or do they have to go to Canada to find one for immigration to Canada? I kinda figured you would have to go to Canada due to different laws in different countries. But anyway, does anyone know? Thanks in advance.

A: Yeah, I'm not sure you need a lawyer for that but you can try finding one at sites like the one below. Anyways, good luck! http://www.socalattorneyfinder.com

Q: I got Immigration of Canada and my wife is pregnant, can we go there and come back before receiving our PR?
We are planning to go to canada and my wife is pregnant my immigration visa expires in July 2008, will i get medical of my wife from day one in canada or we have to take some medical insurance. If I have to come back to India in one month of stay without receiving PR card can I come back. And what will be the procedure of getting PR/Visa for new born baby in India again.

A: Hi, You and your wife will get medical coverage on completion of three months. You may try for help through community services, but there is no surety. If your wife is on later stages of pregnancy, Airline may refuse to board her. You have another choice, if you inform Canadian High commission about pregnancy they may reissue you visa and as soon as baby born you can apply for him/her visa. You should receive your PR Card before leaving Canada, if you want to reenter. Q: What about different aspects of immigration to Canada for a physician?
I am a 35 years dermatologist with two children. My husband is a neurologist. We are from Iran.I dont know immigration to canada is a good option for us or not.

A: On the one hand, it should be a great opportunity, as there's an acute shortage of doctor's here. On the other hand, your medical qualifications won't necessarily be recognized here, so you may have to undergo some retraining and/or examination. Canada's immigration laws are going through a lot of changes right now, which may benefit you. I would urge you to contact the Canadian Embassy where you are for more information and do a lot of research before making a decision.

Q: Am I correct with my decision after a search of immigration to CANADA ?
After a search for immigration to Canada that has taken my 6 months, the best is having a master's or an MBA degree in CANADA. Later I want to stay and find a job.I don't know the age factor but I'm now 36 years old. Will it be difficult for me to do all of these?(Applying from Turkey as a skilled worker the procedure will take 5 or 6 years)Quickest way of immigrating is I think having a degree in Canada.

A: I think you are asking if coming to Canada to do an MBA would increase your chances of being able to immigrate to Canada? Yes, it probably would. Canada, like most countries, recognizes its own degrees before those of other countries. And the quickest way to come to Canada is probably by applying for a study visa. I expect you already know about the Canadian immigration site, but in case you don't, here it is. Best of luck with your plans.

Q: Can you sue Citizenship and Immigration Canada for their ineptitude?
I am an American woman who married a Canadian man I met over the internet over a year ago, and after careful consideration as to who should move where, we decided that he has closer ties to his family and his community, than I do my own, so I decided to move to Canada. However, applying even for a TRP has been a nightmare and I am not even allowed to communicate or even know who the person directly responsible for deciding my life. I think I should be able to speak to anyone working in my case and I find it totally unreasonable that they have such a rule and anyone I call tells me that they cannot even discuss the case with me or alter the decision. Because of that, I feel reluctant to apply for Landed Status, as the expense is astronomical and there are no guarantees that the system will be granted status. Many have told me that hiring an immigration lawyer is a waste of money because they don't have anymore access than I do. I am a spouse. What are my rights? To first answerer: I think that this is ridiculous and the problem is the same in the US. I am a middle aged white woman, I'm least likely to be a threat to Canadian society, but yet, I am being treated like a pariah, while known terrorists have been given free passes.

A: Hi hun, I would suggest that even though the Canadian government says that it's applications for anything are easy for the applicant to do, you may want to get yourself an immigration lawyer on teh Canadian side. I know you have been warned against that, but it's difficult either way. I applied to become a skilled worker permanent resident and they denied me because I didn't have a FULL year of work experice. (I have 4 part-time years because I went to school while I worked). When they see one part of your application is not what they want..they have a law where they do not need to look at the remainder of the application. So even if you have redeeming qualifications later on, it's pretty difficult. I am a student and I spent a ton of money for nothing! And the thing is, I have an advanced degree in Psychology and have all intentions of being a quiet, law-abiding and helpful citizen and...nothing. It's amazing and the people who cause the trouble get in! At some point you'll have to do it, with or without a lawyer. But you are right...educate yourself as much as you can!

Q: Do you really think that illegal immigration from Canada to the United States is an issue?
With all the talk lately about illegal immigration from Mexico to the United States, the country of Canada has actually been inserted into the discussion. Its been said several times lately by politicians: "if we need a fence between the U.S. and Mexico then don't we need afence along the U.S./Canadian border?" Have you ever heard anything more ridiculous? Is there really any serious problem with immigrants coming from Canada? Who comes from Canada? Oh yeah, Canada's best doctors, computer technicians, and actors come to the U.S. Save the money from a border fence in the north and make the one on the U.S./ Mexico border twice as high.

A: The whole "build an American-Canadian" fence argument is rediculous on so many accounts its not even worth talking about. However, immigration from Canada to the United States is more prominent than most people would believe. However, the vast vast majority of this immigration is legal, as it is much easier for highly skilled doctors from Canada to get a pass to come to the United States than it is for Mexicans living below the poverty line.

Q: Why should a skilled Nigerian do English Tests before being considered for immigration to Canada?
I found it funny when you ask a skilled person in Nigeria who has a Master Degree in University Education to still write English test as prerequisite for immigration to Canada. Is Canada speaking a different English Language apart from the one we use to know? Nigeria being a multi-languages Country only has English as a unified language which every educated person speaks fluently if not better than an average Canadian. Many people who ordinarily should have immigrate to Canada have being denied because of this factor. Canada should be more lenient and friendly as per granting immigratrion to a Nigeria intending immigrant who is genuinely seeking immigration rather than using English as a factor of rejection, afterall, English is the official language of every Nigerian.

A: Do not take it personally. It must be a requirement, no matter where you come from. As for people being refused entry in Canada because they do not speak english, I think it is better for those people to have a decent understanding of one of the official languages. They are not going to refuse you entry because you do not speak french, even though it is the other OFFICIAL language, are they? Do yourself a favour and do not get too worked up over this.

Q: How much is independant immigration to Canada?
I would like to know how much immigration in Canada cost with all the fees & exams, and how much delay is in the process for the province of Quebec

A: look at the website www.cic.gc.ca it will give you forms/fees/processing times ....everything you need. Your best bet is to have a job here prior to entering. Get a work visa and then apply for permanent residence...it is very slow so good luck

Q: Why have applications for Immigration Canada from UK increased by so many?
More and more people want to get out of England now. Applications for Canada have increased by 70% this year. Does anybody know why???

A: Cause the empire is striking back.

Q: Is immigration in Canada a success since coming after WW1?
Ever since the end of WW1, Canada has been in the need of immigrants. First only immigrants from some parts of Europe were allowed, then all of Europe. Immigration to Canada was then opened to most parts of the world, recently most being from Asia. Has this multiculturalism become a success in Canada due to these flow of immigrants?

A: Canada has a very strict immigration process that favors young college educated and skilled workers. They take very few poor uneducated immigrants like the US does.

Q: Can anyone apply for immigration to Canada as a refugee?
Can anyone apply for immigration to Canada as a refugee?

A: Yes. Anyone can apply, but you must be able to convince the immigration officials, at a hearing, that you are a legitimatee refugee. It is interesting to note that hundreds of Americans have tried over the years to get refugee status in Canada, and not one has ever succeeded. Sometimes people try it to avoid military justice, for offences such as desertion. It is not enough to come from a war-ravaged or famine-stricken place either. You have to prove that you have a "well-founded fear of persecution", and that you will be tortured or jailed for political or religious beliefs if you are sent back. I know that some people try it as a smart-alec way to avoid applications as legitimate immigrants--and some succeed. They just have to be willing to lie like a sidewalk to a nation that tries to be compassionate and reasonable.
