Q: What can you tell me about the Saadi case in relation to immigration law and asylum?
How did immigration and asylum law develop (by caselaw) upto the Saadi case and how has it progressed since then?

Q: Reasons for US immigration law being so lax and being without enforcement?
I personally don't care about illegals or people entering US illegally as long as they don't personally mess with me. However, I found it interesting that United States is know as "THE PARADISE FOR ILLEGALS" in South Korea. I think this is a huge shame on us Americans that our country has won that kind of reputation. Anyone can guess why out immigration law is fundamentally flawed?

A: It's flawed because Bush signed a secret bill opening our boarders. He didn't consent anyone before signing it, not congress or the senate. He just took it upon himself to decide this for us because the bankers who own the Federal Reserve want Canada, the US and Mexico to become one nation so they can control all of their money and not just the US's. Oh, did I mention Bush's great grandfather was one of the bankers that founded the Fed. Reserve? It's never about what's good for US citizens. It's always about what's the best way to line their pockets with more money.

Q: What do you think Blunt Offers Support for Local Law Enforcement in Fight Against Illegal Immigration?
HANNIBAL– Gov. Matt Blunt today reached out to local law enforcement officials to offer support in their efforts in the fight against illegal immigration. Gov. Blunt discussed his recent directives to help curb illegal activity and outlined his plans to seek funding to help state and local law enforcement agencies pursue agreements with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to enforce immigration laws as federally deputized ICE agents. “I recently directed state law enforcement agencies to take an even more active role in the fight against illegal immigration,” Blunt wrote in a letter to county sheriffs and local police chiefs. “While directing state law enforcement agencies to undertake this effort, I have also heard from many local leaders who are interested in having this 287g designation as well. This letter reaffirms my support for any local request for that status. If you do choose to apply, we stand ready to assist you in your efforts. ” Blunt’s administration is currently working with ICE for authority under Section 287g of the Immigration and Nationality Act to enforce immigration laws as federally deputized ICE agents. Participating officers will receive appropriate training from ICE and function in the field under the supervision of ICE officers. Blunt directed his staff to examine the costs associated with the 287g designation to include all related expenses from training to implementation. He plans to seek funding in next year’s budget to help state and local law enforcement agencies pursue the cooperative agreement and help enhance public safety. The governor also spotlighted his Missouri Information and Analysis Center as a resource for law enforcement. Blunt created the center in 2005 and it has now become both a regional and national example of information collection, analysis, and dissemination. Earlier this year the center played an important role in helping uncover and research illegal workers who had been employed by a state contractor. Last month Blunt announced state law enforcement agencies are working on an agreement that would deputize state troopers, Capitol Police, and water patrol officers to enforce federal laws and protect Missourians against illegal immigration. Missouri will be one of only seven states to have taken this important step to empower state law enforcement to effectively fight illegal activity. Blunt also directed all state law enforcement agencies to immediately take the steps necessary to verify the immigration status of every criminal presented for incarceration. more @ http://www.gov.mo.gov/cgi-bin/coranto/viewnews.cgi?id=EEApFEkZlEOcjeYFDM&style=Default+News+Style&tmpl=newsitem

Q: immigration law?
what do you think of the new immigration law? actually it is not yet been approved by the US Senate, but i hope they won't because i think it is racism. you'll yell if you are injured...

A: it would be the first step in the destruction of the sovereignty of the United States.

Q: How have changes to immigration law improved national security in the US?
We read and hear about national security constantly. Lawmakers are interested in changing immigration law. How do you feel changes to immigration law can improve our national security? Are national security and immigration law linked together? What specific changes do you feel can be made in order to ensure US safety and security? Presentation on Monday. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you!

A: They have not and they will not. An immigrant is here to make a better life for himself, or because of family. The pose no threat, never did, never will. A terrorist is here to wreck havoc, they are not concerned with immigration laws, they would not bother with such nonsense. They would come here like they did before AS TOURISTS. There is no need to attempt to cross the border illegally, they can get detected and deported or they could die in the process of entering the country, that would be an idiotic waste of resources for the terrorist organization. However, as a tourist all they have to do is come in disguised among 61 million tourist a year, a much better, cheaper and easier route. Nobody checks tourists nor should they and there are tens of millions of them. Thousands of guards patrol the border and there are only about 300,000 trying to enter the country a year, which route would you take? No changes on immigration law or policy will or should affect US national security.

Q: I am about to graduate law school and am thinking about practicing in immigration.?
Any suggestions? I clerked once at an immigration firm and I was bored to death by filling out forms. But I did take a class...and I find the substance interesting. So any suggestions/opinions on practicing immigration law?

A: I worked as an Immigration paralegal for about 2 years, it was alright. You meet a lot of interesting people, however, most of the workload is repetitious. I mainly did H1B visas and EB-1, EB-2 visas....the occasional Fiance visa, or marraige visas....but mainly i worked on H1B visas for IT companies....it's the same forms, and the same information, but the people you meet, it's pretty interesting. Good Luck!

Q: How to report immigration law violation in Canada?
if someone violated the canadian immigration law, how can I report to the proper angency and so that they can arrest that person and deport that person? Or I can let the immigration officer know the incident and investigate that person.

A: The CBSA investigates immigration violations and removes persons who do not have a right to enter or stay in Canada.

Q: Why do most politicians forgive Immigration law breakers?
I just can not believe that all the politicians publicly say that immigration laws are ok to break. My greatgrandparents came over thru Ellis Island filled out the paperwork etc. did it according to the law. My grandfathers fought in WW2. I think anyone here illegally needs to be sent back Change the DEA to IEA and we have the funds and the manpower to do it.

A: They are idiot fools.

Q: What was the law for becoming a citizen of California prior to the federal immigration act of 1790?
I'm interested in anything relating to the history of immigration laws in california, especially state laws and sources where I can read about that topic.

A: California did not exist prior to 1850. It was 'territory.' The US immigration policy was largely non-existent prior to 1790. You may find Benjamin Franklin's observations noteworthy however. The Close-Up foundation has a VERY good discussion of this issue. I wrote a "Debate! Citizenship" cd-rom for McGraw a few years ago for the Patterson textbook....you may be able to get hold of THAT....it has ORIGINAL documents and primary sources that may be able to 'walk' you through the US Immigration policy. As far as California goes, their last 'attempt' was Prop 187 and the Supreme Court declared much of it unconstitutional and an overreach by the state, in violation of the federal arrangement respecting 'reserved powers' of the US Government to determine 'citizenship.' hope this helps.

Q: What do you think 20 illegals vending food without a permit and violating federal immigration law?
The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office arrested twenty suspects in Maryvale Friday for vending food without a permit and violating federal immigration law. Out of those detained, 17 were streets vendors allegedly operating without a permit and up to 18 were processed as undocumented immigrants, officials said. One truck and twelve vending carts were impounded during the crackdown, launched Friday by the sheriff's office on behalf of Maricopa County Environmental Services. Officials said the campaign was fueled under suspicions that the food - mainly corn covered in mayonnaise - was cooked in contaminated equipment.http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/0915vendorsON.html

A: Hope they are all deported. I hope no Americans contracted food poisoning from their contaminated cr..er..food.

Q: If it is not the responsibility of the local authorities to enforce immigration law, than whose is it?
When did it become an option to pick and choose which crimes are more convenient to prosecute or which laws should be upheld? Either it is illegal to violate immigration laws, or it isn't. Note:The Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 requires local governments to cooperate with the Department of Homeland Security and report illegal aliens.

A: I agree with you. And, as someone else here suggests, deporting illegal immigrants does not have to mean tearing families apart. The children and parents can ALL go together. Even if the children were born in the US, the parents still have the option of taking their children home to their country with them when being deported. Personally, I believe that the children born to both illegal immigrant parents should NOT be granted US citizenship - they should only have the citizenship/s of their illegal parents. If at least one parent is a US citizen, fine, then the child should have US citizenship. But, the illegal immigrant parent should be deported and perhaps shown how to go about applying to return legally. I do believe it would be good to help those people who are being deported to show them what procedures they need to follow, documents they need to obtain, and fees they need to pay in order to return legally. I know it can be a difficult procedure with lots of red tape, but it can be done - proof being all the LEGAL immigrants we have. As well, I believe that immigration is not a "right," but is a "privilege" and if the country you apply to immigrate to denies your application, that does not mean that you should go ahead and come on in illegally. The country has the right to make the decision on which immigrants are beneficial to the country and which ones they want to take. A country obviously is not going to want all the under-educated, illiterate of the other countries, but will want people with skills and education and abilities to be an asset to the country rather than a drain on the country.

Q: If illegal aliens can be excused from obeying immigration law on the basis of need, then why not excuse them ?
If illegal aliens can be excused from obeying immigration law on the basis of need, then why not excuse them from, say, child-labor standards? Likewise, why not excuse illegal aliens from minimum-wage laws? Even sub-minimum wages often represent a considerable improvement over the complete lack of income they had before crossing the border. Why should illegal immigrants have to pay taxes - if they conclude their own economic needs outweigh the state’s interest in collecting revenue? And why not excuse enterprising illegal immigrants from licensing regulations? If an illegal immigrant has the ability to cut hair, pull teeth, or set broken bones, then why should he have to get the approval of a board of cosmetology, dentistry, or medicine before opening up shop? What’s wrong with having an undocumented pharmacist? If it is the considered judgment of advocates for poor immigrants that their economic well-being is more important than the rule of law, there’s no good reason to limit that judgment to just some laws Surely, if illegal immigrants should be allowed to attend a public school in localities where they have no right to be in the first place, then they also ought to be allowed to teach at a public school without state approval, too. Why should illegal immigrants have to get a teaching certificate? It’s just another document, isn’t it?

A: Their goal seems to be one where they are exempt from all laws that do not fit their lifestyle

Q: Because I am a proponent of secure borders and immigration law enforcement does that mean?
Because I advocate for border security and current immigration law enforcement throughout the country and from sea to shining sea, border to border, some think that myself and others like me need to always be on the moral and politically correct "High ground". Do we truly need to hold the "high ground" when others do not? I simply advocate for American laws to be enforced. Do I need to be morally and politically correct in order to accomplish this? Only good guys wear white hats. Good answers! All are well thought out and intelligent. Thank you all, this one will have to go to a vote.

A: I personally am a registered republican and a voter. Personally I see nothing wrong with you wantint to uphold the law and enfore border security. #1 All America's laws should be enforced. #2 Our boarders must be protected in order to ensure terrorists dont sneek weapons into America intent on terrorist activity. #3 If America actually did secure her boarders, many of our drug problems in the cities would dry up. #4 If america secured its borders most our problems with illegal guns would dry up and uour streets would be safer. I am all for boarder security and LEGAL immigration. I wish the government would create MANDATORY Drivers liscences and STATE ID's that had smart chips (RFID) embedded in them so that every single employer, business and resident could be certain that the people they are serving actually belong here. Those RFID chips could also be used to track sex predators, high risk criminals, etc. It is time America graduated law enforcement to the digital age. Illegal immigrants would STOP sneaking here once they realized that they could not make a life for themselves if they came here illegally. The problem is right now society is so unorganized that they can come here and slip through the cracks. WE NEED A NATIONAL DIGITAL IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM As for morality....believing in the SPIRIT of the LAW and the WORD of law is two different things. The spirit of the laws made in the constitution provided for immigration to America. Our fore fathers meant for America to be a place for people to come so they can make it better. The word of law however states that unless immigration is legal, the people here illegaly have no rights and should be thrown out head first. Sure it's heartless, but its the law the people need to respect. Right now, calling mexicans "illegal immigrants" has an extremely racist connotation. In fact "illegal immigrant" and "guest worker" are such harsh words that they almost directly purport to describe "mexicans". Native Americans should be allowed to stay here. But, all illegals with felony criminal records in America should be deported. America should make it a point not to allow immigrants with felonies - with the exception of political prisoners and refugees from totalitarian rulerships. Regardless all the political rhetoric connected to the words, American citizens - LEGAL AMERICAN CITIZENS- have a duty to uphold America's laws and our national defense. All those people who are citizens and fighting for illegal immigrants to get amnesty should be ashamed.

Q: If the Federal Government can not enforce the immigration law?Can we arm our self and form a militia ?
And enforce the immigration law.Or flood the river that divide US and Mexico with giant Crocodile to take care of our border?

A: If our government continues to refuse to protect us, it just may come to that.

Q: Does anyone know if there is anything new going on in Immigration Law? Maybe another reform?
My husband is going through this mess with Immigration right now and it is so much harder than thought to be. You think when you are married everything changes. I am pregnant too and still we are going through mess. Does anyone have any clue as to anything new in the field of Immigration Law?

A: Nothing new that I am aware of. Just wanted to say don't mind those other horrible comments from people, online loosers that thrive on being hateful. Congrats on your pregnancy & marriage! No new laws that I am aware of. Find an immigration attorney or go to a community outreach center for the country your husband is from for advice. Mostly, don't read the ignorant commets on here, stay happy & positive, it will all works out! There is hope!
