Q: What is the new immigration law and how would an immigrate go about getting a work permit in the US?
A friend of mine has been in the US for 9 years and his student visa expired a long time ago. What does he have to do to become legal and get a work permit now that the law has changed? Can someone please answer this question with a real answer insted of the one that Neko just gave me? Obviously he need a green card, the is common sense, I just want to know what the new law is and how to go about getting one.

A: The two immigration bills that have been passed by the House and the Senate are still not law. The House and Senate bills have to be reconciled in committee. Both versions are worlds apart with the House version being much harsher and offering no relief for people currently in the U.S. illegally. As to what version is going to survive after comittee or if any law will be passed your guess is as good as mine.

Q: What happened to my question regarding EU and their new anti Illegal immigration law?
They have a great new law. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Au1cwkC8SzgyN_RBTn71e.Hsy6IX?qid=20070516223733AAmuilN I added Loretta to my contacts after her excellent replies. Machoman - you must have me confused with the La Raza racists demanding open borders and the deportation of Europeans. Racist illegal aliens are the worst illegal aliens of them all. Here is the link as requested. It is also linked in the original Yahoo questioned. http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20070516/bs_... It's sad that the EU / Europe which is far more left wing than the United States has a more rational approach to illegal immigration than we do. I have other good links in the original question linked above. Here is the link: http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20070516/bs_afp/euimmigrationjustice_070516190021

A: I like Loretta's answer too. Also Linda's answers (whom NOTAMAN - machoman torments relentlessly) Beings it was posted in immigration and we have pro-illegal supporters here in Yahoo - all they have to do is flag your question to have Yahoo remove it. Doesn't matter if it's valid or not offensive. They do the same if they don't like your answers. They just don't want anyone to rock their gravy boat, and have information passed along. If you have a link for it - I'd like to see it. Maybe it's worth passing along to Congress and Senators. Edited: - I love how NOTAMAN shows his ignorance. He can't tell the difference between a Country and a State. Or a State in that Country.

Q: What do you think about the new changes to immigration law?
It says-As outlined, the measure would provide for enhanced border security, regulate the future flow of immigrants into the United States and offer legalized status to the millions of men, women and children in the country unlawfully. I say SWEET

A: It sounds that it can work, but let the congress finish the details panchita.

Q: Is the new immigration law going to hurt the people who had recieved their interview date already?
The embassy is telling us that we might have to wait. Is it true. But we already got our interview date for August.

A: Nothing is going to happen by August that impacts the ability of immigration to act. It is nowhere near a 'burden on the bureaucracy' stage. Last I heard the House was going to 'blue slip' the Bill as unconstitutionally being a revenue raising Bill that did not originate in the House. If that happens it has to go back to the Senate to fix. The Senate could fix it easily, but the Democrats are refusing to. They are saying 'Republicans should overlook the technicality', knowing they won't. (This is a House/Senate balance of power thing, and the House is very jealous of its prerogatives.) You have some time, at least. I suspect nothing will impact bureaucracy this year.

Q: How has the new immigration law in Arizona affected the economy?

A: Nothing has changed we don't have the man power to enforce that law. I am more worried about other things.

Q: How do you think the new immigration law will affect the grocery industry or General Motors?

A: The grocery industry will finally start paying decent wages to its employees so the owners will have to absorb a small cut in profits. GM on the other hand will use the old adage "if they don't come to you, you come to them" and move the remaining plants to Mexico, where they belong anyway.

Q: What do you think about the new immigration law being passed?

A: I agree with the House version of the immigration bill and strongly disagree with the Senate's bill and the President's proposal. This "comprehensive" immigration reform championed by the Senate and the President is really a code word for amnesty. Bush and the Senate care only about appeasing the big business interests that want a steady supply of cheap labor and the lawbreakers who are demanding that we allow their disregard for the laws of this country. Illegal immigration strains our social services and our environment. Immigration driven population growth puts more cars on the road creating more pollution, contributes to the housing shortage as well as the paving over of open space and farmland to provide housing for the growing population. Perhaps most important to a lot of people is the fact that illegal immigrants depress wages and allow employers to pay low wages and give no benefits. I strongly believe the House should be steadfast in its opposition to those who want to give amnesty to the criminals who flagrantly disregard our immigration laws.

Q: What about Oklahoma's tough new illegal immigration law?
What's your opinion of Oklahoma's tough new law regarding illegal immigration? Personally I think it's a great law and it was way past time for the USA to get serious in dealing with illegal immigrants. Here's a link to a TV news broadcast on this subject. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5YaGPjW0BI

A: As a Texan, it pains me horribly to say this, but......... Way to Go, Oklahoma!!

Q: What do you think about Colorado's new immigration law?
Colorado is giving until March of 2007, for receivers of federal aid to provide proof of residency, or they're out! Personally, I think 30 days would have been plenty of time! Look out Nebraska and Utah! New Mexico wouldn't be much different. Lol! Hey "Angela"!? Did you know your "Mel Gibson" question was asked like, a hundred times??

A: Just ignore Angela, she's just mad because the tide has turned and the illegals are on their way out. I am thrilled with every step taken to remove illegal criminals from our nation. Now, we need to get that massive fence built!

Q: How do you feel about the new immigration law?
Please no race comments that will hurt anyone just the facts..thanks

A: I think we need to secure our borders first before drastically increasing our legal immigration as the Senate Bill would do. Otherwise the huge increase in legal immigration, with families allowed in as a several times multiple to that huge number, will only be on top of increasing illegal immigration. I also think that if guest workers are allowed to bring their families, the families should have to be part of the quota for the quest worker visas just as is typically the case with visas. It is dishonest to talk about a certain number of visas knowing it will be many times multiplied in reality. I think the 10 year statute of limitations in the Senate bill creates an engraved invitation for continuing illegals to come and 'hide out' for 10 years. This is also dishonest in treating the offense as if it ends when the person crosses the border when the real problem is the overcrowded schools, slowed instruction and much greater expense to accomodate illegal alien children who are not fluent in English, and much more expensive health insurance due to paying for those illegals who must be given 'emergency' health care when they cannot pay. 40% of Americans already do not have health insurance due to the greatly increased cost in the last 10 years. The border must be closed with no nonesense about delaying for huge studies on any possible negative ramifications, and no requirement for Mexico's blessing. Yes, we should coordinate with our neighbor, but on this point Mexico has literally been sending illegal immigrants across the border. This is their biggest foreign source of funds. Of course slowing the flow wouldn't be popular with them! I'd legalize screened illegals here but not allow them family reunification visas to bring in even more family. Family could come in under normal quotas. However I would shelve the increase in legal immigration to get a slave labor program for business until the border is secure and we can analyze what the impacts would be. The impacts on our schools and services is already huge. Write to your Congressmen.

Q: What is the new immigration law and I-485(final stage)green card priority date changing to current.?
Green card process is a nightmare for many people. The last stage is still in 2003 priority date. Bu there is a speculation that it might become current date for all the applicants.

Q: What do you think of Oklahoma's tough new immigration law?

A: Super!

Q: Possible new immigration law regarding children?
I heard about the possiblity of a new law thats called 'Innocent Child Protection Act' its regarding those children who were brought to the US when they were young and are still here and want to become legal citizens. My question is if anybody has heard about this topic or know a link where i can get more info about this?

A: http://www.nrlc.org/Federal/ICPA/Index.html. hope it helps...just key in ICPA..there are a whole lot of websites listed..you may have to spell it out

Q: Is New Labour now a spent force in light of its catastrophic policies on immigration and law and order.Should?
the UK now look to the inevitable choice or show a willingness to listen to other parties, which would you consider.

A: i would not give my vote to any of the main three parties. my choice will be between U.K.I.P. and the British National Party. new labour are now unelectable . after 10 years of lie after lie after lie!! i don't think the British people are going to vote labour ever again. i certainly wont ever give my vote to labour again in my life time. liars and traitors. that's what they will always be to me. and my family. as for the other two.....they're following the same kind of politics. Cameron managed to make an entire speech on clever word play. nothing he said had a single promise or even a commitment. it was like listening to that murdering traitor Tony Blair.

Q: Would passing the new immigration law pose a further problem with the nations debts?
What is the U.S. dollar worth now? Would the need for more jobs to be created for the newly u.s. legals be made by demand or would this make the dollar amount lower? I know we would need more offices for social security cards therefore more jobs would be created there? More money would be made through Taxes that would be enforced into the payscale that working illegally they didn't pay. I don't know if I am wording this correctly but I hope someone can understand what I mean. As for me I am for it. The country began with immigrants. Who would not want to live here? We symbolize a country that speaks many tongues, with many faiths and religions, with many races.. we should be in harmony but the racism still thrives, sadly. We are a great country and should set the example of what this country is founded on not show the opposite. Please don't bring racism in to answer this question of economic Economics, Somehow my s was cut off. I mean employment taxes. Everyone pays some kind of taxes here even just buying a pair of socks unless it's tax free weekend. But I meant as working for cash under the table.

A: I really think its a good idea to help these immigrants have a chance to have some of the jobs that Americans don't want, but I'm really against giving illegals citizenship or work visas because it will be a strong hit in our economy. The economy could be so bad that you and I will get barely anything for social security or a pension if you get one. Yes we are a land of opportunity, but we must do it the fair way. I have a friend who was from Korea who waited more than 10 years to come to America. It is unfair to the people who come to America the fair way to be rejected citizenship because of illegals.
